Sr. K Apple News

A Peek at This Week
This week was jam-packed! Our Apple unit was lots of fun. We painted apple trees, made "stained glass" apples, painted with apples, weighed and compared our apples, discovered whether or not apples can float, and found the hidden star inside an apple. We talked about Johnny Appleseed and how an apple grows from a seed. In Language we wrote letters Jj and Pp and reviewed all the letters we've learned so far.

Looking Ahead
Our unit next week is Grandparents. The letters we will work on will be Hh and Dd. We will continue Chapter 3 in Math. Our "Grandparents are Grand" program will be held Friday, September 11 in the gym at 9:00 am.
There will be no school on Monday for Labor Day. Also, please don't forget that the Scholastic Book Fair starts Thursday, September 10. It will be kicked off with a “Muffins with Mom“ breakfast at 9:00am. This is a great way for our school to earn books to add to our new school library.

Thank You!
Thanks to everyone for sending in apples and apple products! We enjoyed all kinds of apple products for the apple tasting party that we held together with Miss Sarah's class—we tried apple muffins, apple cider, apple Poptarts, two kinds of apple sauce, apple Newtons, and four different varieties of apples. Also thank you to Emory for bringing us delicious smiley face cookies for her Star Student weeks and to Mr. Marc for reading to us on Thursday.

Mark Your Calendars!
Our Annual Pet Show will be Friday, September 25th at 9:00 am on the playground. Bring your pet(s) and meet us on the playground. Children who do not have pets may bring a special stuffed animal or a borrowed pet.
