Community Helpers

We have had such a fun week exploring different community helpers.  Four awesome moms answered the call to come and talk to the class and let us practice ASKING questions.  Our questioning skills have soared to new heights!  Thank you so much!
Autin's mom, Robin, came to visit us on Tuesday.  She brought us a special snack and read us Austin's favorite book in celebration of Austin's Star Student week.

Austin's mom brought oceans or gummy fish and sour octopi.

Austin's favorite book, "I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean"

Then she talked to us about being a nurse and answered all of our questions.

Christian's mom, Cicely, also came to visit us on Tuesday to talk about being a nurse and taking care of our bodies and especially our eyes.

She let us each listen to our own hearts.

On Wednesday we made these adorable police hats.  For this picture, I told the children to "Mean Mug It"!

Loughran's mom, Dr. Wilson, came to visit us on Thursday.  She brought Penny, the most well-behaved, relaxed lab I have ever seen.

We each had a turn listing to Penny's heart.

We really wanted Penny to stay but she had to leave, but not before we got a cute little group picture.

Quincy's mom, Dr. Pratt, came to visit us on Friday.  She talked to us about being a doctor, answered all of our great questions, and then let us practice examining each other.

Quincy was such a good model patient for his mom and the class.

Quincy got to give his mom a shot!

Loughran checking Kady Ladner's blood pressure.

Nathan checking Christian's heart.

Becca attempting to check Olivia's ears, Olivia isn't so sure.

Becca checking Julia's ear.

Quincy checking Eli's ears.

Julia checking Austin's blood pressure.

Olivia listening to Becca's heart beat.

Archer checked Eli's tonsils.  I love that she had to stick her tongue out too!  Tessa did too.  ;-)

Tessa trying to check Archer's mouth.

Loughran checked Mrs. Deb's ears.

Austin listened to my heart.

Masks can keep us from spreading germs.

Cute toothy apple smiles from Quincy's mom.

This is our new favorite Fun Friday game, Shoot the Sight Word!

Edible Traffic Lights

As a fun, culminating activity for our week on Transportation, the children made edible traffic lights by spreading frosting on graham crackers and then arranging M & M's in the correct order:
Red on Top
Green Below
Red means Stop
Green means Go!
Yellow mean Wait,
Even if you're Late!
