A Peek at This Colorful Week

To prepare for our upcoming unit on Plants, we planted seeds on Monday.  The students chose from sunflowers or wildflower mixture.

We put gravel in the bottom to aid in drainage.

On Tuesday we did the coolest experiment-- Rainbow Milk.  You add drops of food coloring on the top of a layer of milk.  Then dip a Q-tip into dish soap and then into the milk.

It makes the colors swirl and mix.

So neat!

On Wednesday you might have noticed a few new colorful freckles on your little one.  We made "Moon Prints".

You mix soap, water, and paint in a bowl.  Then blow bubbles into it with a straw.  When the bubbles rise up over the edge of the bowl, you lay your paper on the bubbles which makes a beautiful, crater-looking print.

Messy but fun!

On Friday we did another really cool rainbow experiment--Rainbow Walk.

four of the cups are half-full of water, the other three are empty.  We made the cups with water colorful by adding food coloring.  Then we put folded strips of paper towels into each cup to join them all together.

The children made predictions about what might happen.  Most of them said nothing would happen.

When we returned from recess, the colors had travelled!

I will leave it over the weekend to see what happens.
After the weekend, the cups had all leveled out and the colors were even darker.

Our little seeds were starting to grow on Friday.

Our latest favorite, "Robot Counting".

It was a great week!
