Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a very special day and I believe in teaching children the importance of respecting those who have served.  We had a wonderful day celebrating our local Veterans.
We began Veterans Day at the Church of Christ.  (This is the same church that so graciously took us in last year during our time of transition and they will forever hold a place in our hearts.)  In the picture above we are sitting behind First Grade preparing for the program.

After the program, we were treated to an exhibition of the Jr. ROTC cadets from the High School.

The children and I were very impressed with their skills!

After lunch we traveled to the Veterans home.

We made cards for the Veterans.

Then we sang our favorite patriotic songs for the Veterans.

When you meet a Veteran, shake their hand.  (No fist pumps here!)
The children were genuinely moved by meeting these sweet folks.

How sweet!

Olivia and Victoria are shown here with a Veteran who had just celebrated his 102nd Birthday!

We'll be traveling back to the Veterans home and another Nursing Home at Christmas time.
